The Sun Does Not Forget was inspired by the idea that even in the depth of winter, light has not abandoned us.
I once came across a northern saying about the aurora: that the lights appear in winter to remind people that the sun has not forgotten them. Although this painting is not about the northern lights, that thought stayed with me. It speaks to something deeply human: the need to trust that warmth, colour and life will return.
In this work, winter is not an ending, but a pause held in light. The sun becomes a quiet promise, reaching across coldness and silence. It remembers the earth. It remembers us.
